Metadata is “data about data” in other words it is a way of categorisng or cataloging information to make it easier to find. We add metadata to webpages to allow search engines to find them, rank them and show them on their results pages. Metadata uses keywords or short descriptions that one would associate with the content and purpose of the website. For example the keywords of this site include design, usability, print, web etc.
